We Can All Be Freedom Fighters with Demetria Frank - WTF013
Demetria Frank is an associate professor of Law at the Cecil Humphrey's school of Law and University of Memphis. Kim has been following Demetria on social media for a while and after seeing all of the incredible work Demetria is doing in the community to reform the criminal justice system, Kim knew she had to meet her and have her on the podcast.
In this episode, Kim & Demetria discuss the problem of mass incarceration in the United States and why Demetria is making it her mission to help reform the criminal justice system and put an end to mass incarceration. She also discusses why it is so important to start by helping the youth, which is part of the work she does with "Project MI."
Demetria is very passionate about ensuring that those who are incarcerated in this country have a voice. They have very few rights once they are incarcerated which is why it is important that they have people on the outside willing to speak for them.
"We can all be freedom fighters."
Kim & Demetria also discuss the "3 strikes" law and the impact that it's had on the prison system in America and the impact it has had on those who were incarcerated under this law. Something has to change!
